"Whiskey would have been my second guess," Bucky says. "And gin only tastes like shit when it's cheap and you don't mix it with anything. There was this club I went to back before the war where the gin was so bad it'd peel the paint off the walls but they always had the best bands. Bartender was shit so the Gin Fizz was always flat and the Bees Knees had crystalized honey but damn if I didn't pick up girls there.

He laughs and looks over at her. "You know, your look would have been a hit back then. Always did like a dark-haired girl."
