Bucky isn't one for parties, not anymore, but the offer of a drink is an appealing one since he hasn't felt alcohol in decades upon decades. He wants to see if he can feel it or if it's just going to be another waste of time so when the guy (Sam, he says, and Sam is a name he can remember) comes around offering something called The Spirit of Feabhra, he decides to give it a whirl.
It feels like a gin fizz, something he is more than familiar with from the old days, and it's only after it's been down for a little while that he realizes the drink is a goddamn trick. Everything about this place seems to be a trick, one way or another, and he's not shocked that the drink that seemed completely innocuous is making him feel like the world's tilted on end. It isn't even the normal buzz for a drink. It's desire.
He bumps into someone and the feeling just gets stronger and yeah, it's a trick. It's one of the things these gods or whatever have decided is a good idea in their idea of paradise and he guesses he's just gonna have to ride it out.
"So, this is awkward. Hello."
Is This Desire
Maybe he's been told not to go in the woods but Bucky doesn't care about that. If he's away from literally everyone, he can't be tricked into having sex with someone, so his plan is to become a hermit in the woods. This is one of his better ideas, he thinks, and years of being the Winter Soldier leaves him pretty equipped to handle it. As he walks, he manages to find an apple tree with ripe apples and that just cements his decision. Yeah, he's staying in the woods.
He picks three and takes a bite into one, relieved it tastes like a normal apple and not anything crazy except that the moment he bites into it, it starts. God. Not again. This time he isn't drawn to anyone in particular but he just needs someone in a way that is absolutely desperate and humiliating and he had enough of that after being HYDRA's plaything. There's no one who is going to be hanging out in the woods to help him out, though, so he guesses he's going to have to do this himself.
Except.
It doesn't work. Nothing works. Shit. So he heads back to town and while he's not going to go after the first person he sees, he's more discerning than that, the third person he sees seems like someone he can handle this with and he touches their elbow and gives them a smile that isn't exactly his best work.
"Look, I ate an apple and I have a problem and if you wanna help me out with that, I will owe you one. Or a dozen. I don't even know how that works here. I've got another apple if you need something to get in the mood."
