He leans back, suddenly concerned. "What's a roundabout way of threatening somebody without speaking?"

Whatever subtle flirtatiousness was in his demeanor is gone. He's tensed, prepared to do what's necessary to survive. But he's also at a complete loss as to what that could be, and he's not even sure what just happened. Is he losing his mind? Is he really still in prison?

He works very hard to keep breathing normally, to not give in to the panic that is brewing.
